Day 60- Another rough day for photos

Posted in February on March 3, 2008 by kristykh

I only took three snapshots today.  I went to my old school for Read Day.  I got to read to two of my old classes.  They are 3rd and 4th graders now.  I got to use my old classroom since it is empty right now.  It was fun to see everyone and the kids.  They have grown so much.  Alaina and I dressed in our beach gear for a story I read.  Alaina also got to pet a giant mouse- Jeronimo.  She kept scrunching up her nose and trying to eat his ears.  Another fun first!

Day 59- Off the wagon

Posted in February on March 3, 2008 by kristykh

Well, I fell off the wagon finally and did not take any pictures today.  Yikes!  I take pictures because I love capturing the fun times in life.  I was having too much fun and forgot to take any.  That doesn’t make sense.  Well, I pulled up a photo I had been trying to edit.  I’m still not happy with it, though.  I know the background is not good and it blends with her shirt.  I also blew out her arm.  I really like the picture.  I guess I’ll try to edit it some more later.

Day 58- The big snow of ‘08

Posted in February on February 27, 2008 by kristykh

Yes, sadly enough, this is our biggest snow yet.  We live in a little pocket (the valley) that gets missed every time.  Gatlinburg, an hour away, got 8 inches of snow.  If you look closely, you can see snow in the grass!  Our weather is wild.  In the past two days we have had rain, warm 60s, frigid 20s, heavy wind, snow, clouds, sun, etc.  At least we have variety!

Day 57- Accomplished

After weeks of stripping ugly wallpaper (see day 25),  I finally got to the fun part of the job.  I always thought paining was hard work, but it was a breeze compared to stripping.  So 32 days later, it is complete.  I like the new warm feel in the kitchen.  Ignore the ugly floor.  That will come soon enough.  By the time I get new floor, counter top, and appliances, I’ll be ready for a new paint color…

Day 56- “Why am I in a basket?”

Posted in February on February 26, 2008 by kristykh

She’s looking at me like, “what am I doing in here?”  She had a good time, though.  I have other pictures where she was smiling.  I am just figuring out how to download and run free actions in photoshop.  This was the MCP Take Action on Cancer Awareness.  It converted the picture and then gave me 14, I think, different color overlays.  I chose the dark green.  They are subtle.  I like that!

Day 55- First swim

Posted in February on February 25, 2008 by kristykh

Tyler’s sister, Hannah, had an indoor swim party today.  Alaina got to go for her first swim and loved it!  She was a little apprehensive at first but soon realized how fun it was.  She was splashing and kicking.  She acted like she knew what to do already.  I guess it comes naturally.

Day 54- Out of focus highlights

Posted in February on February 25, 2008 by kristykh

I thought I’d try this assignment again with my new lens.  This is a strand of Christmas lights taken with a wide open aperture (f/1.8.)  I was also trying to reproduce the stars again with f/22.  I didn’t quite get it but need to set up like last time.

Day 53- Weekly Theme- “You in the mirror”

Posted in February on February 23, 2008 by kristykh

I took this to mean reflection.  I am always struggling to do the weekly theme before the end of the week.  I think I’m early this week!  I decided to play with a variety of reflections.  This was one of my favorites!

Day 52- Weekly Theme- “Fanatic”

Posted in February on February 22, 2008 by kristykh

I guess if I have to choose something I’m fanatic about- gum it is.  Alaina is starting early.  As I tried to organize my purse, she kept taking things from my purse.  She decided the gum was the tastiest.

Day 51- Bathtime

Posted in February on February 21, 2008 by kristykh

All babies need the standard spiked bath hair, and I realized I haven’t done one.  I guess I’m usually more focused on keeping her head above the water and making sure she doesn’t fall over.  I finally got rid of her baby bathtub and let her sit in the real bathtub now.  I should have done it sooner.  It really is much easier.
