Success!

Posted in January on January 31, 2008 by kristykh

Ah, one month down, 11 to go in this challenge. I’m not wishing the year away, by any means. I’m just proud that I successfully posted all 31 photos. I will admit I cheated on just one, I think. I used an oldy. I think I have quite a variety, as well. I’m so glad I started this challenge and hope to keep it up!

I just realized I started the month off with a sunset picture and ended with a sunrise. I guess I’m working backwards.

Day 31- Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning

Posted in January on January 31, 2008 by kristykh

This is what I awoke to when I looked out my window this morning. If I had gotten up (or should I say if Alaina had gotten me up?) even five minutes later, I would have missed it. I got my camera, threw on some shoes, and headed outside. I scared a deer out of the field in the process. By the time I headed back inside and poured a cup of coffee, it was gone. Now if I can only start remembering to check my ISO before I shoot. I’m so bad about changing it. I had it set at 1600 from dark inside shots yesterday. Notice the noise.

Day 30- Flowers, yum!

I wanted to play around some today. What I found out is that I really need a better lens to shoot natural light. My shutter speeds were too slow for my moving target.

Day 29- Best buds

This is Alaina and her buddy, Talan. Her new trick is hitting, and what better to hit than a bald head?

Day 28- The money shot

Posted in January on January 28, 2008 by kristykh

I love holding a handful of twenties. Too bad they are already in the bank (for those of you that know where I live.) ;) Unfortunately that money is from our renters (better late than never ) and goes straight to our mortgage on our “other” house. It would be more fun to take it out shopping!

Day 27- Weekly theme- “Fresh”

Posted in January on January 27, 2008 by kristykh

I guess the week is technically over, but I just got around to posting. These flowers, or whatever they may be, are just now sprouting. That’s about as fresh as you can get. We just moved in this August, so I’m a little behind on what may sprout.

Day 26- Blind shot

So here’s another garage shot. I never knew Tyler played with such cool things out there. No wonder he gets caught in the “black hole” of the garage. He was practicing his welding. No, you’re not supposed to look at the light. I focused the camera before he started and turned around and took this picture. I don’t want to burn out my eyes. I have too much fun with them!

Day 25- Out with the old

Posted in January on January 26, 2008 by kristykh

Today I got ambitious and decided to start scraping off wallpaper. We moved into our new house in Aug. and have removed wallpaper in one bathroom and hall. Now, the kitchen and another bathroom are left. Ugh! What a project. It’s something that bothers me and that I really need to do. You can’t see in the picture, but there is a lot more wallpaper behind me and even in the dining area. My friend has offered to help, so I told her I had started- her reply, “Don’t do all of it.” Hahaha! If only it were that easy…

Day 24- Wintertime blues

Posted in January on January 25, 2008 by kristykh

Today was another cold day in the 30s. It started with light flurries this morning, but it cleared out by the afternoon. Alaina was on the cranky side today, but I didn’t feel like going anywhere. So, I bundled us up and took a stroll to the mailbox and back. I took my camera along for the ride. The sky was so pretty. It gives me hope that springtime is not too far away. Come on Puxatony Phil!

Day 23- Five months already

Posted in January on January 23, 2008 by kristykh

Alaina turned five months old last week. The weeks fly by, but we’re having so much fun! She’ll be walking and talking before I know it. I keep anticipating the big milestones but don’t want to rush time, either. It goes by so fast, and I know I will miss our baby soon.
